Soap/Shampoo

Shampoo bottles can pose a problem to recyclers due to contamination from the original product. As a way to reduce packaging you could try making your own soaps, etc. The Handmade Soap Book by Melinda Coss has a range of recipes using natural ingredients (this is available from the Natural collection, see Suppliers section). Look for shampoo in refillable bottles.

Avoid shower gel or liquid soap as they run out quicker than soap, and use more packaging. Look out for soaps that are simply packaged - Scottish based soap companies such as the Strathpeffer Spa Soap Company, Skye Soaps, and the Shetland Soap Company all sell lovely soaps packaged in just a slip of paper.
