Let's Talk Rubbish
RoWAN are hosting a talk entitled “Archaeology is Rubbish” by local archaeologist Susan Kruse. Susan will be giving us food for thought with a talk entitled "Archaeology is Rubbish". She will explore the way people have treated rubbish through the ages, from the earliest Mesolithic times through to today. From this perspective she will suggest that there may be valuable lessons from the past, as well as sobering reflections on what archaeologists of the future may think about us today.
As well as the talk, RoWAN staff will also give an update on their current “Towards Zero Waste Communities” Project and the Master Composter Project, which encourages people to start and continue composting. There will be displays on both composting and other waste reduction activities - bring along your queries and suggestions. There will also be a short formal AGM after the talks. It’s free, there’s no need to book, you’ll get a cup of tea, and all are very welcome to come along.
This meeting is an great chance not only to hear an interesting talk, but also to find out about RoWAN’s work. Reducing waste is a big job but is an important part of tackling climate change. Everyone can play a part in saving natural resources - and money - by taking on the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle message.
RoWAN is currently looking for new members for its Management Committee. This meeting is an ideal opportunity to meet the RoWAN team and to find out more if you are interested in getting involved.
