Exciting New Project to Help Cut Waste in Inverness

RoWAN is pleased to announce that we have received further funding from Zero Waste Scotland til March 2015 as part of the Volunteer and Community Advocate Programme (VCAP). This will enable us to work in more depth within Inverness Central and Ness-side wards to help people improve recycling rates, reduce recyclate contamination, reduce food waste and use the new Highland Council food waste collection which starts this September. Wombles Waste Free Cooking sessions

10 Mums from the Inverness Wombles mother and toddlers group joined cooking tutor, Maureen Cusick to get tips on how to reduce food waste, through hands on cooking demonstrations as well as activities and discussion.

The course was considered a big success by those who attended. Senimili said, ‘I’m going to try to plan menus more and check use by dates” and Karen added, ‘I’ll be freezing a lot more leftovers.’
