Meet Gordon - The New Invergordon Mascot.

Meet Gordon the Seagull.  He's the new Invergordon mascot to remind people to cut waste and 'Slim their Bin.'  A good number of households in Invergordon have already joined our Slim Your Bin campaign, pledging to reduce the amount of rubbish in their bin. You can join in too - click here to find out how.

We’ll enter all those who sign up in Invergordon into a prize draw for a £40 voucher towards a meal at a local restaurant of your choice or to spend at the Health Food Shop in Alness or at Easter Ross Organics (Ardross).

In the New Year we’re planning to be out and about in Invergordon to encourage more people to join up. If you have any ideas of good locations to meet people or if you would like to help by encouraging your friends to pledge, then please let us know. We could also come into your workplace and talk to you and your colleagues. So watch out for us and also for our newsletter which will be coming to all households in Invergordon in January.

The owner of the old Post Office has kindly agreed that we can use the shop window for a display. We will be working up the display with a number of groups from the schools and the youth groups in January. The display will be beautiful but will be made from rubbish! We will also make it in such a way that when the shop is let we can move it to other locations in the town.

We have been busy working with South Lodge Primary School in Invergordon, looking at all the waste created by the school in a day, and following that up with assemblies. We are now working with them on how to reduce the amount of waste produced in the school. See press release on this. In January it will be the turn of Park Primary and also we hope Invergordon Academy, once they have their new Eco-Committee up and running.

If you would like to help with our work in Invergordon, please get in touch. Even if you can only spare an hour to talk to your friends and colleagues about Slim Your Bin, that would be a huge help.
